Ganymede of Accord

Name: Ganymede of Accord

Race: Half-elf

Moral Alignment: True Neutral

Place of Birth: Church of the Angels of the Accord

Skills: Pickpocketing, camouflage, stealth, dagger, hunting and tracking, reading and writing

Ganymede was born into a group of sorcerers that believed they were angels. The church’s leader, Pan Malcolm, thought that those who joined the guild of “Angels” would gain powers and knowledge that put them above the “non-magics” or “nomaj.” Most of his followers came from broken homes and backgrounds of tragedy, hoping that Pan would grant them powers to fix their problems. However, the power came at a price: Anyone who joined the church would be forced to surrender all their belongings, and essentially, their lives, to the guild of misguided sorcerers. Each sorcerer chose an “angel name” as a part of their conversion process as a way to display that nomaj did not have power over them any longer. Ganymede’s father and mother chose the names “Excelsior” and “Heirloom.” Ganymede was never given a mortal name, only the name Ganymede.

At the church, Ganymede learned to read and write from the best teachers the church had to offer. The students were only allowed to read sacred religious and magical texts and Ganymede learned much and remembered even more. He never practiced the magic, realizing that it was from a dark power, not one that humans should ever be harnessing, let alone using, but he learned it.

Ganymede wanted no part in the church as Excelsior and Heirloom wasted their lives, money and even their souls trying to gain magical powers. Heartbroken at the fate of Excelsior and Heirloom, who ended up broken, starving and penniless, Ganymede decided to run away. The church exiled Ganymede from ever returning, vowing to injure or even kill excommunicated members. He knew it was necessary to hide.

Since the church was all Ganymede knew, he kept a few relics from the church. He never used them, however, realizing their dark power. To survive without the care and comfort of the church, Ganymede had to learn to beg, steal, borrow or barter. He quickly picked up pickpocketing and lock picking to pay for his food. Ravenwood is only the next stop on his quest to hide from the sorcerers who want him dead. He would someday like to take on the sorcerers, but isn’t nearly powerful enough to fight them without magic. Then again, he has noticed an… incident or two. Maybe he does have power he didn’t know about.

  1. Seldom is a kindness in these harsh time, without an expectation of payment. May the good prevail — though at times good masquerades as a thief.
