Now that was not a name that I was expecting to hear this far West of Gal…
He is a man a part of myth, one out of a Legend back where I come from. The Legends claim that he was one of the Riaghladair of old and that he united all the Eastern Clans of Gal to form the Nation of Stoirmean. With every swing of his sword, Elren’dar, thunder would roar and the ground would shake. But like most Myths and Legends, there are some truths that can be found in between the lines of the story.
Taog MacLubaich was born in the Nation of Stoirmean, by this point it was still as small budding alliance between many of the Clan Leaders but there were still many rouge clans and rival alliances that existed within this time. Like many, Taog started out as a Reaver for the clans. In time, others would learn of his great battle prowess, his battlefield tactics and skills with a sword. In short time he would move up through the ranks of the clan and while still quite young, he would make a name for himself. By the age of 22 he would rise to the rank of Urram within the Reavers, and at the age of 24 he would challenge the current Neach-faire of Clan of Wind’s Bite for his title. He would go down as the clan’s youngest Neach-faire and eventual would be known as the youngest among the Riaghladair.
During the Years of Thunder, the time of the great war of the clans that led to the creation of the Kingdom of Stoirmean, Taog would grow in strength and fame. In the first months of the war he would be raised to the position of Riaghladair, one of the great generals of the Kingdom. Just before the time that he would come across the blade Elren’dar.
Little is actually known about the origins of this blade, even less than the Truth of Taog, but it is known that the Blade has close origins with the First Men of Storms, the ones who would eventual be known as the Stoirmean People. Legends say that many of these blades were created and wielded by the People of Storms. Stories say how the blades almost had a personality of their own and that one does not chose the sword but the sword itself choses it’s wielder. Other stories tell of the sword’s magical properties and great speed in battle.
During Battle at Twins Peak, Toag would go missing, having fallen of the side of a cliff face. He would be found alive, limping back to his battlements with sword in hand, A Stoirme Blade. The only thing he would say about the blade is that it simply chose him. With that blade he would go to kill the Rival Riaghladair of the Greadh ann stoirm Alliance. During this battle, Toag would be given the Title of Storm’s Strength. When Toag struck steel to steel with the Rival Riaghladair, a crack of thunder roared out launching the Rivals blade off the side of the mountain top, winning him the battle.
That battle would eventually come to mark the turning point of the war and the soon victory of the Stoirmean People. Toag would never go to rule, but it also wasn’t the last war he would fight in. He would lead the armies of Stoirmean Kingdom against the other nations of Gal, during what would be known as War of 5 Kingdoms. During which Toag would fall in battle and his sword lost to the waters… But that is a story for another time…
